As a newborn photographer, preserving those first precious moments has been my greatest passion for well over a decade, and I’m so excited to finally share something I’ve been working on!

I’m thrilled to officially introduce Petite Newborn Sessions at Abstract Photography Studio!
Over the years, I’ve had so many conversations with expecting parents who absolutely loved my work but weren’t quite looking for a full luxury newborn experience. Some simply wanted beautiful portraits of their baby, some just wanted digitals and weren’t quite interested in wall art or keepsakes, while others were hoping for something a little shorter and more budget-friendly.
I listened…. and I’m ready. You see… newborn photography is a learned craft that takes an insane amount of patience, experience to master, and of course we can’t forget all of the lighting techniques, wrapping techniques, backgrounds, wraps on hand, outfits on hand, bows, hats, etc… ALL the things you need to have on hand so that mom and dad don’t have to buy them to use just once. Spend your dollars on pictures, not the stuff your photographer should have for you… or at least that’s how I feel about it. So, to wrap all of this up into a “petite session”, it requires knowledge and lots of experience. Babies are unpredictable. They can’t tell you, “hey! I’m not doing that pose today, my tummy hurts, don’t do that, or hey! that’s not comfortable or safe, I can’t breathe” You have to be trained in this to know, be aware, and read how your baby is responding. That’s where I come in and I’m ready to offer shorter sessions.
I wanted to create an option that allows more families to experience professional newborn photography without sacrificing the quality, safety, and artistry that my studio is known for.
And that’s exactly how Petite Newborn Sessions were born!

Although Petite Newborn Sessions are shorter, nothing changes when it comes to the quality of your images.
Every baby is photographed safely, patiently, and with the same artistic lighting, attention to detail, and professional editing that families have trusted me with for years.
But beautiful photographs are only part of what you’re investing in.

Those adorable sleepy poses you see online may look effortless, but they require education, patience, experience, and a thorough understanding of newborn safety. I have recently made a change and added a full digital option as well for the parents who just have to have all the digitals.

While I know we live in a digital world, I will always believe there is something incredibly special about walking past your baby’s portrait hanging on your wall every single day. Those printed memories become part of your family’s story in a way a phone or computer simply can’t replace.
Let’s Capture This Once-in-a-Lifetime Season
The newborn stage is one of the shortest seasons of parenthood.
The sleepy stretches, tiny eyelashes, little yawns, and curled-up poses disappear before you know it. That’s why newborn portraits are best photographed within the first 5–14 days after birth, when babies are naturally sleepiest and most comfortable.
The best time to reserve your session is during your second trimester. We’ll pencil in your due date, and once your little one arrives, we’ll schedule your session at the perfect time.
